The Simple Pleasures!
Our small campsite enjoys open views of the farmland and gentle rolling countryside beyond, with large grass tent pitches. There are also electric hook ups (EHU) available on some of the pitches, so you can enjoy some luxury camping. The site is surrounded with newly planted hornbeam hedges and native trees, to benefit both the wildlife and campers alike. You will be able to enjoy the many birds and mammals that live here on the farm. In the evenings why not hire a fire pit and marvel at the bats performing aerial acrobatics in the night sky! Plus as this is a Dark Skies designated area, you can stargaze at night – you may even see some shooting stars!
For your comfort, there are mains showers & toilet cabins (not composting), along with an area for washing-up, a freezer for blocks and secure mobile phone charging lockers. There is ample parking on site for cars and motorbikes located at the edge of the site.
A local bus service operates nearby, stop just 10mins walk down the road, connecting nearby towns, villages and the main railway stations. We are also located close to many cycle and long distance walking routes, so cyclists and walkers are very welcome to stay on site!
Unfortunately we do not accept Pets.
There is a dedicated separate camping area for motorhomes & campervans.

During your stay you are welcome say hello to the animals on the farm (sheep,pigs and ponies). We are lucky enough to be close to some amazing beaches and tourist attractions, and have some lovely country walks right here on the doorstep. There’s always something different to see and experience.
We believe at shepherd’s rest that your holiday with us is an opportunity to unwind, enjoy the beautiful surrounding and reconnect with them. So we don’t supply Wi-Fi on site (although a 4G signal is available).
Being a small site with limited capacity, it is advisable to book in advance to avoid disappointment – please Contact Us to reserve your pitch.

Full payment is due at the time of booking, we can accept card payments by phone or we can send you a payment link. Any balance payments for alterations/extras can be made via cash or card.

- Additional guests – £5 per night (each)
- Electric Hook Up (5 Amp – 1.2kw) – you must bring camping type electric appliances, not household ones – £6 per night
- Additional structure e.g. gazebo, small pop-up tent by prior arrangement only – £5 per night extra
- Tents 7m or over – £5 per night extra

On arrival, any balance payments for alterations/extras should be made via cash or we may accept cards.
Cancellations
50% refund if booking is cancelled 7 days prior to arrival.
No refunds for cancellations made within 7 days of check-in or for bad weather or change of plans.
Alterations are made at the sole discretion of Shepherd’s Rest.
If Gov COVID guidelines do not permit travel/stay (i.e. lockdown) a voucher will be issued for future use.
Customers required to self-isolate are not covered by this policy.
Absolutely beautiful campsite. There’s only a few pitches so you’re not all squeezed in, the views are gorgeous. The facilities are clean and cleaned regularly through the day. The toilets are in line of sight and individual so I felt happy letting my kids go on their own.
We camped at Shepherd's Rest for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owner gave us a nice welcome on arrival and the site was clean and quiet. Facilities were superb and included access to a hot and powerful shower, washing up station with hot water and phone charging points.
We had a wonderful camping holiday in the summer. The location is beautiful with country walks and stunning sunrises and sunsets. The ablutions were lovely and clean. There are only 3 bathrooms but we didn't have to queue for more than 10 minutes to have a shower as all the guests were considerate. This is a stunning location, really relaxing, beautiful beeches nearby.
I have stayed at this campsite twice in the last month. Most recently have been combining my work (locally) with a family holiday. Alison and Mark are extremely welcoming and have been very accommodating with my unknown dates for arrival and departure.
